Introducing careers in radio and audio through real-world application with industry standard tools and software.

The High School Radio Project, from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association and the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association, gives students from schools across each state hands-on experience in programming and on-air work for a streaming radio station, producing hours of radio programming in a matter of minutes.

Introduce your students to radio…

As a teacher, you can’t bring your students to a professional radio station for much more than a station tour.  With the HSRP, we bring the radio station to your classroom and allow your students to develop valuable real-world skills by producing the content that plays on our streaming station.  The state broadcasters association lends the gear to your school, and after your students’ time with the HSRP is over, we ship the gear to the next participating school.

The software and equipment provided is state-of-the-art, and in use by successful radio stations and major corporations across the nation.  The High School Radio Project will be heard by students, faculty, friends, and family around the world on Live365, a leading internet radio provider, through the association’s website, and through Alexa and Google Home skills (coming soon).

The HSRP will give students exploring a communications career – whether on the air or behind the scenes – a boost on college applications, internship opportunities, and ultimately, full-time employment.  HSRP will help all students learn to work as a team, and to provide information concisely and accurately to their intended audiences – critical skills to use in any profession.

Radio stations offer a variety of rewarding positions including Board Operator, On-Air Host, Program Director, Production Director, News/Sports Reporter, Talk Show Host, Sports Play-by-Play, Studio Engineer, Digital and Social Media Content Creator, Promotions, Marketing Consultant and more.

If your school has ever thought about starting its own over-the-air radio station, the obstacles are many. The HSRP has removed all those barriers in providing a turn-key curriculum covering radio’s past, present and future - and covers 100% of the cost!
